The Spirit Board was used to direct Phoebe Halliwell to the attic and the pointer also mysteriously moves every now and then. The inscription on the back reads: "To my three beautiful girls. May this give you the light to find the Shadows. The power of three will set you free. Love, Mom."

Prue Halliwell discovers the spirit board when she was looking for the circuit tester in the basement. She keeps it on the dining room table where her sister sees it and gets excited. She reads the inscription on the back and when the two leave the room, the pointer starts to move on its own. Later that night, Piper and Phoebe are playing with the spirit board in the conservatory and Piper asks it if Prue will have sex with someone other than her self this year. Piper walks out and the pointer moves again, this time with Phoebe's hands lightly touching it. It spells out the word "ATTIC."
